Welcome Call with your Program Manager

After accepting an offer to serve with our program, you will receive a phone call from your Program Manager. Your Program Manager will be your primary contact with our program throughout your service term. They are excited to meet you and prepared to support you in your onboarding journey. Our goal is to make it as seamless as possible for you to complete all of your onboarding tasks so you can start service and begin transforming lives!

Completing Online Paperwork

After accepting an offer to serve and talking with your Program Manager, your next step is to complete your online paperwork packet. This packet contains a series of tasks that need to be completed before your service term can begin. You will access your online paperwork in a system called iCIMS.

Look for an email from: paperwork@servetogrow.org
Subject line: Let’s get started! Your online paperwork is ready to complete!

This email will contain login credentials and instructions.

After logging into the system, you will be guided through a series of tasks. Each task includes detailed instructions, and the system will track your progress toward completion. Please complete your paperwork packet as soon as you receive it. Timely completion of these online tasks is critical to prepare for the next steps of the onboarding process. Reach out to your Program Manager for support at any point while completing your online paperwork.

Click here for tips on navigating your online paperwork packet.

The final three tasks of your paperwork packet will ask you to register for:

  • Background Check (fingerprinting)

  • Pre-Service Session

  • Year-Long Training

It is important to note that each of these tasks will walk you through a unique registration process in a separate system. After completing registration for each task, you must return to iCIMS to mark the task as complete in your paperwork packet.

Registering for Background Check (fingerprinting)

Before beginning their service, all AmeriCorps members undergo fingerprinting and a background check. It's a quick and easy process. You'll find step by step instructions in your paperwork packet online in the "Registration: Background Check" task.

For detailed instructions for each step, click here.

STEP ONE

Is scheduling an appointment to get your fingerprints taken. You will schedule this appointment through a system called Fieldprint. After scheduling your fingerprint appointment, be sure to return to the paperwork packet in the iCIMS system to click the “I have made an appointment” button at the bottom right-hand corner of the page. This will mark the task as complete.

STEP TWO

Is completing an online invitation from a system called Truescreen. You will not be prompted to complete this step until after your paperwork packet is reviewed and approved by our staff. At that time, you will receive an email notification about how to complete this second step. See below for additional details on completing your Truescreen invitation.

Registering for Pre-Service Session

As a new member, you have an exciting (and required) opportunity to connect with our staff in-person before you start your service term! As part of your online paperwork, you will register for a Pre-Service Session. These sessions are held regionally, and you will be able to select when and where you will attend.

During your Pre-Service Session, you will:

  • Present your photo identification and AmeriCorps eligibility documents

  • Learn more about the benefits available to you during your service term

  • Have the opportunity to meet with a staff members to ask questions

  • This email will come from: memberbenefits@servetogrow.org

  • The subject line will be: AmeriCorps Pre-Service Registration Reminder

If you are unsure whether or not you’ve scheduled an appointment and/or when it is, please reach out to your Program Manager for support.

Registering for Year-Long Training

Training is an essential part of your member experience and while completing your online paperwork, you’ll register for required training scheduled throughout the year. Your training calendar and requirements will be based on your program and position.

The training program is designed to provide professional development and growth for members with varied backgrounds a wide range of life experience. Experts will help you learn the technical skills you need to be successful and also help you build transferable skills like intercultural competency, communication and more. Throughout your service term you’ll also have opportunities for intentional reflection, collaboration with peers and planning for life after service. .

The “Registration: Year-Long Training” task in your paperwork packet will walk you through the process for training registration. After completing your training registration form, be sure to return to the paperwork packet in the iCIMS system to click the “I have registered” button at the bottom right-hand corner of the page. Because AmeriCorps has very specific eligibility criteria, all members must verify their eligibility to serve. To ensure you meet the requirements, you’ll need to present IDs/documents that confirm both your identity and citizenship status. A variety of IDs and documents meet the requirements.

Completing Background Check

Every AmeriCorps member must complete a two-part background check. You will complete the first step — scheduling a fingerprint appointment through Fieldprint, as part of your online paperwork packet. After you complete your paperwork tasks, there will be two more important actions you need to take.

Attend your fingerprint appointment

You will receive confirmation and reminder emails from customerservice@fieldprint.com. Your confirmation email will contain your Appointment Number. Bring this number, along with two forms of identification (one must be government issued and contain a photo) to your appointment. After your fingerprinting is complete, you will receive an email with a link to view the results of your check.

COMPLETE YOUR TRUESCREEN INVITATION

Once your online paperwork is complete and verified by our staff, you will receive an electronic invitation from Truescreen. It is important to complete the invitation right away.

This invitation email will come from: ApplicationStation@truescreen.com.
It will have the subject line: Background Investigation Forms Requested

Follow the instructions on the form, which will include uploading a photo or scan of your government issued ID. Once you complete the online disclosures and Truescreen process, you will have an opportunity to view your results.

Completing My AmeriCorps Invitation

All members serving with AmeriCorps are enrolled in an online system called MyAmeriCorps. Enrollment in this system notifies the Corporation for National and Community Service (the federal entity that oversees and provides funding for national service) that you are serving as a member with our program. MyAmeriCorps is also the system where you will access your Education Award after you successfully complete your service term.

After your online paperwork is complete, we will send you an Enrollment Invitation for MyAmeriCorps. This invitation will come in an email from either myamericorps@americorps.gov or epayments@americorps.gov. Follow the link in the email and complete the Enrollment Invitation right away. If you have any questions about how to complete the invitation, please call you Program Manager for support!

Ordering Your Member Gear

As an AmeriCorps member, you will receive a set of program gear to wear throughout your service term. Wearing your member gear is how you will represent the program mission and your dedication to transforming lives in your community. After your Welcome Call, your Program Manager will send you a link to your unique gear order form. You will have the opportunity to select three pieces of gear (at no cost to you). Gear options include a knit cardigan, fleece vest, cotton t-shirt, and more!

Your gear order will be shipped directly to the address you list on your order form. It should arrive within four weeks of your order date.

You will schedule your Pre-Service Session as part of your online paperwork packet. The next step is to attend your appointment! Be sure to bring your eligibility documents and your questions with you! We are excited to meet you and share information and resources that will help you prepare for your service term.
